3 Women. 2 Companies. And a whole lot of eco-passion!
Sasha Windes – She has always believed in giving back to the community and reducing her negative impact on the planet. When her two children developed asthma and eczema symptoms, she began doing her research on chemicals found in household products. This research blossomed into a passion for a clean, safe, eco-friendly products. She found that once unwanted chemicals were removed from her children’s surroundings, their symptoms disappeared. It was at this moment that she knew she wanted to help other parents that are experiencing the same problems. ”It was through the information available online and other testimonials from mothers that helped me so much, and I feel it is my duty to give back to other mothers going through the same problems.” She was so inspired she co-founded Greenshops.com with Jennifer Jordan – an online green retail store listing environmental benefits for it’s products to help people uncover the mystery of what makes a product green. ”We not only offer products that are green, but we assure they are healthy as well. People list products green just because they are made from recycled materials. Not all materials are healthy for our homes and we want to create a safe, healthy and happy place for familes to shop.”
Jennifer Jordan – A retired Radio City Rockette and world traveler, Jennifer has always been passionate about creatively giving back to the world around her. After moving to Bakersfield with her husband, pursuing a career in real estate and attaining her eco-broker designation, she decided she loved having her own business but hadn’t quite found her niche. After switching out her toxic cleaning products and realizing her labs no longer became sick, this fueled her passion for the environment to yet another level. She’s proud to say running Greenshops.com allows them to not only positively affect people and their families, but the world around them, as well. Jennifer also is the founder to the Green Drinks in Bakersfield, Ca.
Adrienne Spahr Kim – Adrienne (Addie) has been interested in environmental issues and sustainable development since as far back as high school. She obtained a B.A. in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, where she led the Student Environmental Action Coalition and worked for the Sierra Club. She later obtained her Master of Public Policy from the University of Southern California, focusing on urban planning, transportation policy, and sustainable development. Adrienne then spent 6 years as a strategic planning and policy consultant for the federal government but her passion for green building, design, and sustainable living motivated her to start a consulting company that helps both businesses and households adopt eco-practices. In 2007, she founded Green Living Consulting – which consults both businesses and households on how and why to adopt green practices at home, at work and on-the-go. Adrienne is a LEED AP and believes in educating people on eco-practices that are good for both people and the planet! She is expecting her first child in the Fall of 2010 and can’t wait to be an eco-mama!
