I guess the best part about blogging sometimes is the experiences you get to document…. All for the world to see but more importantly so that my aging self can go to one place to remember all of life’s great experiences!!
This past week I completed a whirlwind of a trip and yes, unfortunately I logged some miles which in turn means CO2 emissions from the un eco-friendly airplane I was in…..;(. I did however purchase carbon offsets and packed about as much as I could possibly pack into one trip to make it all worthwhile.
On October 10th & 11th, I attended the DC Green Festival! I had been to the San Francisco one but was excited to attend the east coast version to see how it compared. I will say that the San Fran festival seemed anyway much larger. They did mention however that the attendance was way down than from the year prior but the great thing is that you actually got a chance to speak with all of the vendors without being harassed by everyone in the aisles. A few highlights of mine were watching the cardboard city being made by the local students. Kids are incredibly creative and I love seeing their little minds in action!
There is always “one” company that stands out and for me this year it was the YouRenew.com company. We had a booth directly next to them and I could not get enough of asking them about their company. I am for 1.) greatly intrigued by start-up companies and 2). greatly intrigued by young entrepreneurs! LOVE IT….
A Yale grad student started this company on campus and it has exploded! You get paid for recycling!!!!!! How many times have I said that going green saves money and actually can put the “green” IN your pocketbook?!?!? Well this everyone is a prime example!
Go to www.yourenew.com and see how you can get paid to recycle today!!!
